751
01:32:38,043 –> 01:32:41,504
Please, Father…

752
01:32:41,588 –> 01:32:43,840
Why can’t we stay as we are?

753
01:32:45,425 –> 01:32:50,429
I don’t believe that marriage will make me any happier.

754
01:32:50,597 –> 01:32:52,348
That’s not true.

755
01:32:53,934 –> 01:32:56,227
It’s nothing like that.

756
01:32:58,730 –> 01:33:01,190
I’m already 56.

757
01:33:02,609 –> 01:33:05,611
My life is nearing its end.

758
01:33:06,655 –> 01:33:12,577
Yours is just beginning. A new life is just about to start.

759
01:33:12,619 –> 01:33:17,039
A life which you and Satake will build together.

760
01:33:19,543 –> 01:33:22,295
A life apart from me.

761
01:33:23,463 –> 01:33:27,967
That’s how both life and history progress.

762
01:33:32,389 –> 01:33:36,851
Marriage may not bring you happiness from the start.

763
01:33:38,145 –> 01:33:43,649
It’s wrong to think that marriage will instantly make you happy.

764
01:33:46,695 –> 01:33:49,113
Happiness is not something to expect…

765
01:33:49,281 –> 01:33:52,283
…but something you create.

766
01:33:53,160 –> 01:33:55,286
Happiness isn’t about getting married.

767
01:33:55,412 –> 01:34:01,667
Happiness lies in the couple creating a new life together.

768
01:34:03,128 –> 01:34:05,671
It may take a year or two…

769
01:34:05,797 –> 01:34:11,177
…or even five or ten years’ work to create that happiness.

770
01:34:11,345 –> 01:34:15,139
Only then can you claim to have become a true, married couple.

771
01:34:17,267 –> 01:34:21,395
Your mother wasn’t happy in the beginning.

772
01:34:23,023 –> 01:34:25,942
We had our troubles for years.

773
01:34:27,110 –> 01:34:32,615
So many times I found her weeping in a corner in the kitchen.

774
01:34:32,699 –> 01:34:35,701
But your mother put up with me

775
01:34:37,913 –> 01:34:40,122
You must have faith in each other.

776
01:34:41,333 –> 01:34:43,751
You must have love for each other.

777
01:34:45,420 –> 01:34:51,550
Show Satake all the warmth and affection you’ve shown me.

778
01:34:53,053 –> 01:34:54,553
All right?

779
01:34:55,889 –> 01:35:00,559
Then your new, true happiness will emerge.

780
01:35:02,729 –> 01:35:04,563
Understand?

781
01:35:06,858 –> 01:35:08,567
You understand, don’t you?

782
01:35:10,737 –> 01:35:15,324
– Sorry for being so selfish.
– You understand, then.

783
01:35:18,078 –> 01:35:22,540
– It was very selfish of me.
– Well, I’m glad you understand.

784
01:35:22,666 –> 01:35:27,253
I didn’t want you to get married feeling the way you did.

785
01:35:28,213 –> 01:35:32,174
Marry him and I’m sure you’ll be happy.

786
01:35:32,342 –> 01:35:34,176
It’s not difficult.

787
01:35:35,178 –> 01:35:37,888
I’m sure you’ll make a great couple.

788
01:35:39,224 –> 01:35:41,726
I’m looking forward to it.

789
01:35:43,145 –> 01:35:47,982
Soon we’ll laugh about this talk we’re having tonight.

790
01:35:50,819 –> 01:35:52,486
I’m sorry…

791
01:35:55,949 –> 01:35:57,742
…for worrying you all the time.

792
01:35:57,909 –> 01:36:03,414
So…just be happy. All right?

793
01:36:05,792 –> 01:36:10,629
– I’m sure I’ll be happy.
– Of course you will.

794
01:36:10,797 –> 01:36:15,718
I know you can do it, I have no worries.

795
01:36:17,220 –> 01:36:19,138
Be happy.

Phim Ozu thường hay nói về tình cha và con gái. Không biết phim nào, Late Spring hay Early Spring có vườn thiền toàn đã ở chùa Ryoan-ji (không biết spell tên có đúng không).
